300th Mercedes-Benz truck for Farm Trans shines with ProCabin

MOERDIJK – Last week, the first of a total of 25 new Actros L trucks with ProCabin was delivered to Farm Trans from Moerdijk. With these 4×2 trucks, the logistics service provider reaches a special milestone. Since 2016, Farm Trans took delivery of 300 Mercedes-Benz trucks. The quality of the vehicles combined with confidence in both Louwman Trucks and Daimler Truck Nederland are the main foundation for the constructive cooperation.
Fixed value
A consumption test at the end of 2015, during which the Actros ran for a week in the company’s daily operations, was Farm Trans’ first introduction to the Actros. In the nine years that followed, Mercedes-Benz Trucks supplied as many as 300 trucks to Farm Trans from Moerdijk. The leading international transport company specializes in transporting foodstuffs and agricultural products. With a modern fleet of approximately 400 truck units and advanced logistics solutions, Farm Trans offers both refrigerated and bulk transport within Europe.
CEO Adriaan de Bruijne: « Over the last decade Farm Trans has undergone a wonderful development by focusing our services and entering into future-proof partnerships. Our driving capital is obviously enormously important to us. We operate a two-brand policy in the fleet in which Mercedes-Benz Trucks has a share of about 60 percent. Mercedes-Benz trucks have proven to be very reliable, efficient and safe in practice. In addition to the quality of the vehicles, the supporting European service network, the local expertise of Louwman Trucks and the thinking of both Daimler Truck Nederland and Daimler Truck Financial Services play a crucial role in this cooperation. »
Actros L 1845 LS
With the order of 25 Actros L 1845 tractors, Farm Trans strengthens its fleet. The introduction of the ProCabin in the fleet is a real first. All Actros tractors come with the ProCabin cab StreamSpace with flat floor. On the inside, this StreamSpace cab offers a lot of comfort for drivers. The standing height of 1 meter 97, the flat floor and smart storage compartments create extra space. In the new Actros, drivers have air-suspended driver’s seats, comfort beds, LED ambient lighting, refrigerator, coffee maker, a climate package with position heating and an attractive interior chrome package at their disposal.
Safety first
Drivers who have driven the new Actros L with ProCabin report that the seat height and position are perfectly adjusted. Thanks to Multimedia Cockpit Interactive, the operation of climate control, navigation and infotainment, among others, also feels very intuitive. This gives drivers more security and peace of mind behind the wheel and thus also ensures greater safety. Farm Trans consciously chooses to purchase all available safety options.
De Bruijne: « We are a major participant in traffic on roads that are only getting busier. That creates a responsibility to our own people and the other road users. Because we never want to wonder afterwards whether an accident could have been prevented with a piece of technology, we purchase all safety options and assistance systems. »
All 25 of these new Actros trucks are equipped with features such as Lane Keeping Assist, Active Brake Assist 6, Sideguard Assist 2, reversing camera and Active Drive Assist 3. This innovative system combines several safety systems to enable partially autonomous driving (Level 2). This supports the driver during long trips and increases safety and also driving comfort.
Farm Trans is, as it describes itself, a data-driven transport company with a strong desire to innovate. Thanks to smart IT systems, the company optimizes the supply chain for customers. In addition to transportation services, Farm Trans offers warehousing, intermodal transport and VAL solutions. The partnership with Mercedes-Benz contributes to Farm Trans’ innovative strength. Especially in the area of sustainability, they want to move forward.
“We have a clear policy around sustainability,” says De Bruijne. « In our vision towards 2030, we also use Mercedes-Benz innovations. Consequently, the first two Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 are already on order. We have high expectations, but will of course be happy to test this all-electric truck for long-distance transport in our practice! »
